Last week Science week was celebrated across Ireland. We also celebrated it here in 1st class. Every day we learned about a 'Scientist of the Day' and a 'Science Fact of the Day'. We focused on celebrating the many wonderful Irish Scientists that have contributed greatly to Science. We carried out experiments and culminated the week with a visit to the Galway Atlantaquaria where we partook in a workshop and had a tour of the aquarium! It was a fantastic day out!
We recently celebrate Maths Week in 1st class. We engaged in a range of activites including class games, an online quiz, and much more! We also visited 3rd and 4th class who had prepared some Maths activities for us to play. What a great week we had!
Things got very spooky in Rang I on 23rd October as we all dressed up in our Halloween costumes to raise money for the wonderful Temple Street Children's Hospital. We had a great time at the school disco!
We learned all about Halloween around the World and we made flip books!

Learning about Quentin Blake
In October, we learned all about the work of illustrator Quentin Blake. We also tried out drawing one of his most famous characters, Willie Wonka!
Science - Energy & Forces
In September, we investigated the movement of a toy car on a slope. We predicted, tested and recorded the time it took the car to reach the bottom of various height slopes. We then predicted, tested and recorded the results of the effect of various materials on providing friction to the car!
At all times we made sure we had a fair test!!
